About this Short Film
Blind Acceptance (Teagan Mayor, Australia, 2020) offers an interpretive look at themes of blindness, individual identity and acceptance. Focused on sensory disability and the experiences of teenagers, the short asks viewers to reflect on how young people navigate difference and belonging. It favours an evocative, non-literal approach that invites personal response over explanation. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, Blind Acceptance sits alongside films that celebrate the abilities, perspectives and achievements of people with disability. This quietly powerful piece contributes to conversations about accessibility, empathy and the many ways people find understanding within themselves and their communities.

This film is about a young man who has recently gone blind. The film is based on the concept of blindness and the grieving Process that a person goes through when they lose their sight. The use of movement instead of words is to demonstrate a pain that is hard to explain. As the film progresses he soon accepts the help being offered to him. He doesnt see himself as hopeless but as some who is willing to adapt and overcome the situation he is now in.
