About this Short Film
I Am (Also) Robot (Yarraville Special Developmental School, Australia, 2020) is a warm, inventive short by students and staff that reflects on life at school and beyond. The film brings together ideas of isolation, connection and creativity, using paper mache robots and moments with teenagers to evoke how young people with cognitive processing and intellectual disability experienced the pandemic. It balances group activity with individual expression, quietly opening a window into school life during Covid without grand claims. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, it celebrates the talents and perspectives of people with disability and invites audiences to listen and learn.

I love this film Dylan. I keep watching it and it reminds me about how much life has changed for all of us and how differently we all see the world. I cant wait for the sequel. Great work and well done to Ana and all the wonderful teachers at Yarraville.
