Choose

About this Short Film

Choose, by Bisrat G/tsadik (Ethiopia, 2021), examines themes of employment, inclusion and perception through the lens of physical disability and wheelchair use. Intended for adult audiences, the short invites viewers to reflect on how workplace access and social attitudes shape choice. It highlights group interactions and differing viewpoints without prescribing answers, prompting conversation about mobility, dignity and equal opportunity. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, Choose adds an Ethiopian perspective to our programme, helping broaden understanding of everyday challenges and achievements faced by people with disability. A thoughtful, concise piece that sparks questions about who gets to choose and why.

The production highlights the wrong attitude towards people with special needs additionally suggests simple interventions that would make them productive. This piece deserves an award as it tries to be voice for those section of the society which unfortunately are not getting the appropriate attention in Ethiopia.
