About this Short Film
"Soul Mate" by Zabibu Almasy (Tanzania, 2021) is a short film included in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival. The film brings attention to issues around albinism, stigma and stereotypes, and the social pressures people with visible disabilities can face. It addresses bullying, prejudice and group dynamics without presuming a single viewpoint. Shown here as part of our programme, Soul Mate contributes to conversations about inclusion, respect and the diverse experiences of disability in contemporary Tanzania.

This is just a very small example of the challenges and obstacles that PWDs face in their lives in various fields in Tanzanian society. Stigma exclusion violence oppression and even murder are part of life for persons with disabilities all over the world and now is the time for the world to stand up in togetherness and amplify out the calling voices for the rights and well-being of people with disabilities and to speak more of the positively and success stories of them. I think Zabibu deserve to be congratulated empowered and even given a winning award for this wonderful representation kind of a shot film.
Nice video keep up
So sad we are both human being and we have to love and respect one another.
It good lesson for person how has such kind of curractor to behave.
That's was realy touching.. and pretty agonizing to see our fellows lives in abusive relationship just because of their situation
If you decide to marrie somebody with disability do it with love and not for something.
If thats true honestly it is not fair
So sad
People they need to understand that our fellow disabilities are also humans
Thas is very true Poeple with disability they suffer for for true love
The video has portrayed the true character of some women living with disability. They suffer a lot from their partner abuses. It is rare for them to find true love.
Its a beautiful subject that may be occuring out there in Tanzania however the background music would have been nicer if it was Tanzanian. We are the best in the music industry in Tanzania led by Diamond Platnumz. Also the actors words in Swahili were not heard and the sequencing of said words to the pictures seemed off. I personally would love to support your work.
