About this Short Film
Tales From The Script, directed by Hank Snell (New Zealand, 2021), is a short film presented in our Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival. The festival showcases the abilities, experiences and achievements of people with disability. Rather than offering a tidy story, this film explores subjects relevant to adults and young adults with autism, Down syndrome and other intellectual or congenital disabilities. It uses interview elements and group interactions to examine employment issues and difficult moral questions, including themes of killing. The film is frank and at times confronting, and we include it to prompt conversation about ability, responsibility and inclusion. Viewer discretion is advised.
