Gender and Employment: Gender Matters

About this Short Film

"Gender and Employment: Gender Matters" (Canadian Institute for Inclusion & Citizenship and Inclusion BC, Canada, 2022) examines how gender shapes work opportunities for people with disability. The film explores themes of employment, stereotypes, prejudice and possibility across congenital, intellectual, physical and sensory disability, and looks at how perception and motivation affect young adults seeking work. It does not assume a single storyline, but offers prompts for conversation about supports, attitudes and inclusion in the workplace. A concise, thoughtful contribution to the Focus on Ability festival, it will resonate with audiences interested in employment practices, advocacy and everyday ways to make work more accessible.

Gender Matters is a brilliant thought-provoking film which highlights individuals living with diverse abilities in sharing their personal stories. The experiences and very deep thoughts shared are truly inspiring. My life has been enriched through the incredible leaders in this film. I believe that it should be shared in schools universitiescolleges and with community members. Gender Matters is a must see film
