QuackStar's Connection

About this Short Film

QuackStar's Connection (Allison Pitt & Venessa Crane, Australia, 2022) explores performance, perception and the many ways people present themselves. The film brings together themes of dance, group work, adult performing and lived experience of congenital, intellectual and physical disability, including wheelchair use. Rather than offering a neat narrative, it invites viewers to shift their viewpoint and notice moments that challenge assumptions about ability and creativity. Shot and edited with attention to movement and presence, this short is both thoughtful and immediate. It is a welcome addition to the Focus on Ability festival lineup, highlighting diverse ways of being and performing on screen.

So much creativity was expressed by Venessa Greg and Bec in this film. It's as if they were flying not sitting in wheelchairs This film evokes strong emotions going from dark and scary to lighted delight
