Kulumala Sikulephera (Disability is not Inability) is a compelling short by Malawian filmmaker Sellina Dumbula. Presented at the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, this 2023 work highlights themes of achievement, advocacy and employment for people with disability. The film speaks to both intellectual and physical disability and the skills and motivation that drive young adults and adults to pursue meaningful work. It is a respectful, hopeful addition to our programme and invites audiences to rethink ability and opportunity. As a festival selection, it sits alongside other films that celebrate real achievements and the everyday determination of diverse communities.
