About this Short Film
When I Grow Up (2018) from Newman College is a short film that explores dreams, perception and viewpoint through the lives of young people living with intellectual disability. Remaining open rather than prescriptive, it invites viewers to consider how teenagers and children imagine the future, how they see themselves and how group and school contexts shape those visions. Presented as part of the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, the film highlights the talents and perspectives of people with disability and contributes to a broader conversation about inclusion and belonging. Simple, humane and thoughtful, it asks us to listen and to look again.
