The Kid's Table

About this Short Film

Ana Maria Belo's The Kid's Table (Australia, 2019) is a short film that invites viewers to rethink perception and viewpoint through the lens of childhood and sensory disability. It explores themes of deafness, family relationships, group dynamics and the shifting boundaries between child and teenager. Quiet and observant, the film pays attention to how parents and peers shape what is seen and heard. Included in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, The Kid's Table sits within a programme dedicated to films that highlight the abilities, experiences and achievements of people with disability. A thoughtful addition to conversations about access and understanding.

Very professional and polished. The performance from the young girl is great as is too the other performances. I liked the perspective and how it kept crossing over and back to the child.

I love this video The daughter clearly had many good abilitiestraits but I was particularly drawn to her ability and good sense to turn off her hearing aid to block out all the 'noise' around herBeautifully written acted and shot.

What a beautiful film Resonating that intrinsically children are the peacemakers ...and somehow as adults we have los5 the ability to operate from that pure state. Emotions speak louder than words ...which the film maker Ana Maria Bello captured so beautifully. The film is shot and directed superbly. The child is amazing Well done .
