About this Short Film

In 2020 Everything Changed (Selwyn College, New Zealand, 2021) is a short film that reflects on life during the Covid era through the lens of disability. Set around school and online spaces like Zoom, it touches on themes such as wheelchair use, congenital and intellectual disability, cognitive processing differences, perception and shifting viewpoints. The film observes how groups of teenagers navigated sudden change and connection, without prescribing a single story. Quiet and attentive, it fits naturally into the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, which highlights the abilities, experiences and achievements of people with disability. A thoughtful addition to a programme about resilience and perspective.

An amazing film created by an awesome team - they meet so many challenges every day but this film shows how valued they are by our school and their teachers and teachers aides. A great job done.

What a great movie all of you I so liked that so many of you got to take part in this movie and it looked like fun for you all plus new skills to learn. It looks like you have a great vegetable garden. Now we are in another lock down - may you all find lots of creative things to do.

The students from the Totara Learning Centre made this amazing film with just an I pad and a very dedicated teacher aide. This film reflects the Selwyn Way by the students just being the best they can be You are all simply the best.

Entertaining and uplifting. The young people in the film indicated strongly their zest for life positiveness and a wonderful example of how despite the fact that in 2020 everything did change youve got to get on with life in the best way possible.
