About this Short Film

Lisa (2022), from Deafblind Information Australia, is a short film included in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival. Rather than outlining a plot, the film explores themes of deafblindness and CHARGE syndrome and reflects on sensory disability, personal goals and the drive for independence. It speaks to the experiences of young adults and highlights individual motivation and achievement. Presented by an organisation specialising in deafblind support, Lisa sits comfortably within the festival’s mission to showcase the abilities and achievements of people with disability. A concise, thoughtful piece, it offers viewers an accessible and human perspective on living with sensory difference.

I loved your video and your strength. I also did not want to be a burden and left my husband one and a half years ago. I am in a wheelchair with multiple sclerosis
