About this Short Film

Special Interests (Cambridge Park High School, Australia, 2024) is a short film presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival. Rather than a single story, it offers a glimpse into themes of achievement, imagination and the power of special interests in school life. Moments of creating, dancing and studying sit alongside reflections on autism, cognitive and sensory differences, intellectual and physical disability, and the support unit experience. The film celebrates individuality and the ways teenagers find focus and joy. It is a thoughtful, hopeful contribution from a school community that highlights ability, creativity and the everyday wins that matter.
