Singlehanded (2025), film still

About this Short Film

Singlehanded, directed by Dustin Reynolds (Hawaii, USA, 2025), is a short film that explores questions of accident, achievement and perception. Through its lens on adult life, physical disability and prosthesis, it invites viewers to consider how viewpoint shapes understanding. The film does not ask us to look away from risk or loss, but to recognise skill, resilience and the complex realities faced by amputees. Shot with a focus on individual experience and sporting endeavour, Singlehanded fits naturally within the Focus on Ability festival, which celebrates ability and accomplishment. It is a quiet, thoughtful contribution that prompts reflection on how we see others and ourselves.

Human Resilience is shown in many ways by people who refuse to be challenged. This is an outstanding example
