About this Short Film
ISSAI - The Voice Unheard, by Shamil Raj (India, 2024), joins Focus on Ability with a tender, hopeful short that addresses perception and prejudice around congenital disability and Down syndrome. The film highlights themes of inclusion, achievement and believing, and features elements of singing and sibling dynamics as part of its exploration. It asks audiences to reconsider stereotypes and stigma, and to notice what ability can look like from different viewpoints. Presented in a festival that celebrates lived experience and accomplishment, ISSAI invites viewers to listen more closely and to recognise the talents and voices that often go unheard.

Great Film
This is so touching and the deeper meaning it conveys is truly amazing. The visuals the characters the music the subtle expressions the crew and cast just awesome and amazing. Powerfully packed as hard hitting message for all the differently-abled people not just in India but you have spoken for the world too my friend. There is a line in this short file that says 'The world will change' and guess what it will for sure change for the better with more intentional work of art like what you and your team have created.
