About this Short Film

Silence Abel Silungwe, Zambia, 2024 Silence explores sensory disability and the experience of young adulthood with care and warmth. Through themes such as congenital disability, deafness, illness, dating, texting, learning and inclusion, the film invites viewers to consider how communication and connection can shift when bodies and senses differ. We do not assume a single storyline; instead the film offers space for reflection on individual choice, resilience and the everyday negotiations of relationships. Shown as part of the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, Silence contributes to a broader conversation about access, respect and the many ways people with disability experience friendship, love and community.
