Healing Melody, from The Kasungu Film Collective (Malawi, 2024), is a short film that explores music, sensory disability and the challenges people face around employment, poverty and prejudice. Quiet and observant, it draws attention to themes of achievement, stigma and the persistence of stereotypes while celebrating individual creativity. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, the film contributes to our programme by highlighting the abilities and experiences of people with disability. It asks audiences to listen closely and reconsider assumptions about blind and unemployed adults, without preaching.
