About this Short Film
Serve and Protect (2024) from The Kasungu Film Collective, Malawi, is a thoughtful short included in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival. Rather than presenting a fixed plot, the film examines themes around albinism, congenital disability, prejudice, stereotypes and stigma, and how these issues intersect with policing and the lives of young adults. Shot and made in Malawi, it offers a chance to hear perspectives that are often overlooked and to reflect on achievement and individual resilience. As part of our festival programme, Serve and Protect contributes to a broader conversation about ability, dignity and social change.
