Film Transcript

My name is Samson. I am 19 years old. I live with my mother. I am her only child. Even though I am disabled, I am living my dream like any healthy person. I am a painter.

My mother has always been by my side and supported me. She won't let me start my work without eating breakfast, but I won't eat breakfast. My mother gave birth to me when she was young. However, she worked very hard and sacrificed a lot to raise me. That's why she is miserable even at her young age. She's as charming as her eyes are to me, and I have nothing better to do than her.

Sometimes I think about it: disability is not a disability but rather a chance for us as beings, because we work with the capacity and energy we are given. Although many people think that we people with disabilities are incapable of anything, we prove to them through our work that we are equal to anyone else with the grace given to us.

My biological father left my mother and me when he was a child when he found out I was disabled. I loved playing football so much that I played it, but the thing I loved added to my injury. One day I lost the ability to speak and my mother was so angry that she slapped me. But even so she was proud of me. I have never left home since then. I want to make my mother happy but I can't. I always express my feelings and love for her through pictures. As usual today my mother and I are trying to put a picture of the identity that the area we live in gives me. As always, I made my mother proud today.

Talent does not require a voice or freedom from physical defects. If there is a heart, no obstacle can limit the horizon of creativity.
