The Early Late Show with Piglet!

About this Short Film

The Early Late Show with Piglet! (Out of Sorts Productions, United States, 2024) is part of our Focus on Ability programme. This short film speaks to group dynamics and the experience of young adults with intellectual disability, and sits naturally alongside other works that highlight ability rather than limitation. We include it for the perspectives it brings to conversations about friendship, participation and everyday achievement. Shot and presented with a clear, human tone, the film complements the festival’s aim to celebrate people with disability and their stories. A thoughtful addition to the line-up, it invites audiences to notice the small, powerful ways people shape community.

Film Transcript

Welcome to the Early Late Show with Piglet, straight from the 100 Acre Wood. Piglet is here with some very special guests. Tonight on the show we welcome everybody's favourite actor, Shakespeare Ape. We'll have a little chat with the world's second richest man, Milon Tusk.

The Early Late Show is sponsored by Buffo Pies — you love them.

This is the stage manager. Are you ready to cue the entrance of your first guest, Your Highness? Oh, there are our cameras too. Thank you. Hey, I'd love some of that dessert that you were just selling after the show. Hey, Piglet. Yeah, we got banana creep pie.

Anyway, Piglet, to promote my latest efforts I am going to be appearing in the Madison Square Garden production of Richard III this summer. That's great. It's going to be an all-NBA cast. Everyone in the show will be a basketball player except for me, because I don't play basketball, but I will do my very best in this production. Tickets will be available in the fall. You got to come see it. Thank you.

Oh, would you like me to give you a little sneak preview of what I'm doing? Yes. "Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by the son of York." And if you want the rest you'll have to buy a very expensive theatre ticket to see it at Madison Square Garden. Thank you, Piglet, thank you for having me on.

We'll be right back after the messages.

All right, well, let's see. We got Koopa Colola 2008. What is so great about Koopa Colola? It's wonderful. It tastes like Koopa. Yum. This tastes like Koopa, if you please. What does Koopa taste like? Koopa Cola 2008 — it's Koopa dupa, Koopa dupa Cola. Koopa Colola 2008 on sale now at your favourite grocery store or MegaMart or BoMart. Say Hal to meum talk, if you please.

Hey, how are you doing today? Good, doing good. Aren't I? I want to thank you for having me on your very first show. It's lovely to see everybody here tonight out in the audience. You know, my rocket ship exploded today, but who cares. Right, 3, 2, 1. Ah. Anyway, it's just money. Yeah, money, honey. Hey, how much you paying me to be on your show tonight? Thirty dollars. Oh, I'm gonna talk to my agent, Piglet. That's against the actor's union. I'm out of here. Bye.

We'll be back after the message.

Hey kids, let's go to the MegaMart. They've got a sale on Koopa boobs. That's right — they have burger, cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, and they have B my Chun of cheese. They're the Mega sell at the MegaMart. That's right — there's a brand new MegaMart opening this weekend. Please welcome Mario.

Hey, how you doing? Good, good to see you too. H, all the way out here and out of space. I'm out here with Elon Musk on one of his rocket ships — the one that didn't blow up. What about Luigi, your brother? Boy, he's here too. Hey, that's me, Luigi. Today I'm the one with the back accent and my brother Mario, he's trying out some other accent. It was weird. I don't know, I couldn't take it.

Yeah, when are you coming on the rocket ship so we can go to planet Pth next week? Yes, that's right. All right, well, I'll see you then.

Well, that's wrap this up for the one day, and thank you for watching. Good night, everybody.
