About this Short Film
Driven by a profound love for spiritual knowledge, Moges, a dedicated traditional church school student, navigates his world guided by the warm glow of a Tuaf (a traditional Ethiopian beeswax taper). However, a sudden tragedy strikes, plunging his physical world into darkness as both his eyesight and his sacred light fade simultaneously. Desolate and on the brink of abandoning his lifelong calling, Moges finds hope in a devoted friend who rekindles the Tuaf and begins reading the holy scriptures aloud to him. This act of companionship resurrects Moges's inner fire, propelling him to overcome his visual impairment and achieve academic excellence. Ultimately, recognized by his master for his unmatched wisdom, Moges is honored with the prestigious teacher's cloak; standing blindly yet resplendently in the illuminated classroom, he uses his own Tuaf to ignite the candles of his students, sharing the boundless light of knowledge that fills his heart. Transcending his own limitations, he becomes an eternal beacon of light for his entire community.
