Focus on Ability 2026: Building Momentum for an Even Bigger Year

As we look ahead to the 2026 Focus on Ability Short Film Festival, there’s a real sense of excitement building.

Each year, the festival grows in reach, impact, and community connection—and 2026 is shaping up to be our most powerful yet. With filmmakers, schools, and communities already preparing their entries, we’re once again inviting the world to share stories that challenge perceptions and celebrate ability.

The foundation laid in 2025 has set the bar high. With over 450,000 views and votes, incredible international participation, and national television exposure through SBS, the festival continues to expand its influence and inspire audiences across Australia and beyond.

From first-time student filmmakers to seasoned creators, everyone has a place in Focus on Ability.

We’re also excited to soon announce our 2026 screening dates, giving audiences across the country the opportunity to come together, experience the films, and be part of something truly meaningful.

At its core, Focus on Ability is about changing the narrative—one story at a time. And with your support, 2026 will be another step forward in building a more inclusive, connected future. Stay tuned.
