Focus on Ability – Finalist Selection and Awards Process

The Focus on Ability Film Festival celebrates the creativity, talent and achievements of filmmakers from around the world.

Each year, films are reviewed and finalists are selected across the Festival’s award categories.

Official Finalists

Films selected as official finalists are recognised for their achievement and contribution to the Festival.

All filmmakers selected as finalists receive notification confirming their finalist status.

Being selected as a finalist is an achievement in itself, regardless of whether the film is subsequently featured at the Red Carpet Awards.

Top Five Finalists – Red Carpet Awards

From the official finalists in each category, the top five films are selected to be featured during the Red Carpet Awards presentation.

Each of these five films is acknowledged during the ceremony, with a 10-second excerpt from each film shown on screen.

Other official finalists are not individually featured during the ceremony but retain their finalist status and recognition.

Category Winners

The winner of each category is announced at the Red Carpet Awards.

The winning film is screened in full as part of the ceremony.

Recognising Every Finalist

All official finalists retain their finalist status, whether or not their film is featured during the Red Carpet Awards.

The Festival is proud to recognise the achievements of all its finalists and congratulates every filmmaker selected.
